Good Kitchen Reminders for the New Year

The New Year is the perfect time to evaluate kitchen procedures and ensure that your kitchen is in compliance. After the busy holiday season, prepare for your next inspection and improve the cleanliness and efficiency of your kitchen with our tips.

In between appointments with Tucson Tallow, you can take the necessary steps to maintain safe and sparkly clean kitchens. To keep your stress levels low, we’ve compiled our favorite key kitchen reminders to implement in the New Year. Check them out below.

  1. Wash Your Hands
Working overtime doesn’t mean you can let your cleaning habits fall between the cracks. It’s just as important as ever to wash your hands frequently (yes, soap included) especially after touching raw meat or sneezing.
  2. Organize Your Foods and Cutting Boards
As a restaurant industry professional, you probably know that mixing raw and cooked foods is a big no-no. The same also goes for your cutting boards, where cross-contamination between foods is likely to occur. Keeping an organized kitchen and labeling which areas are intended for raw food prep and which areas are for cooked foods will help you prevent foodborne illness and keep your kitchen safe.
  3. Sanitize Frequently
Killing bacteria off your cooking counters isn’t just a tip—it’s a must. To do so effectively, let the sanitizing spray settle for about three minutes before clearing it off.
  4. Clean Your Towels and Sponges the Right Way
Washcloths are effective and environmentally friendly, but they need to be cleaned with bleach to truly get the gunk out. If you do use disposable sponges, swap them out often to keep bacteria at bay.
